Share your recordings as a link, or export a file and share it however you like.

Click Share in the Export Video dialog to create a shareable link. Recorded uploads your recording together with your edits (zooms, background, cursor, webcam, text, and audio settings), so there is no need to render a file first. Viewers watch the edited video in their browser.

The link is shown while the upload is still in progress — you can copy and send it right away, and it starts working once the upload completes.

Sharing requires signing in to a Recorded account. Free accounts can share videos shorter than 25 seconds; sharing a video that is 25 seconds or longer requires a Pro license.

Copy the link in the format you need:

  • Link — A URL to watch the video
  • Embed — HTML embed code for websites and blogs
  • Markdown — A Markdown-formatted link for documentation and README files

Each format can be copied to your clipboard with a single click.

Monthly Share Quota

Share links count toward a monthly quota. Pro users have a higher monthly limit than free users. If you reach the limit, the share panel shows how many shares you’ve used this month.

File Export

Alternatively, click Export Video to save an MP4 or GIF to your computer. Recorded opens a save dialog where you choose the file name and destination. Exported files can be shared through any method — email, messaging apps, cloud storage, and so on. See Export Formats for the available options.

Default Recording Location

Your raw recordings and their project files (not exported videos) are saved to:

  • macOS: ~/Movies/Recorded/Recordings/
  • Windows: Videos\Recorded\Recordings\

Each recording is stored in its own folder named with the date, time, and captured window name (e.g., 2025-01-15_14-30-05,_Google Chrome/).
